Many people with free Dropbox accounts have likely found themselves in situations where they hit that 2 GB wall and need just a bit more storage. Fortunately, every so often Dropbox holds contests or other promotions where they offer up free incremental space increases. The most recent offer as of this writing is for users willing to test out a beta version with automatic photo and video uploading to get 5 GB of extra storage space for free if users upload at least 4.5 GB of photos and/or videos using the import function. I thought it was pretty neat, and didn’t really require much work on my part. I use Dropbox occasionally. I encrypt anything I store there first of course. As for sharing amongst my machines, I set up a small fileserver on my home network. Easily reachable remotely too if needs be.
